Privacy policy
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), in its capacity as a data controller, processes personal data in accordance with the provisions of EU Regulation No. 679 of 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the personal data processing and on the free portability of such data and repealing Directive No. 46 of 1995 of the EC (GDPR). The requested data is being used exclusively for the purpose of obtaining media accreditation or registering. The MFA collects only the personal data that are minimally necessary in order to complete the accreditation or registration process, respectively: name and surname, e-mail address, mobile phone number, date of birth, ID Document Type, ID Document Number, ID Document Date of Expiry, copy of ID Document, photo. The refusal to provide the requested personal data entails the impossibility of obtaining media accreditation or registering to this event.
The personal data collected will be stored by the MFA for the period necessary for the complete fulfilment of the purpose mentioned here above, unless it is necessary to keep it for a longer period of time in compliance with the applicable legislation. After this deadline, the personal data collected will be deleted or transformed into an anonymous form.
The legal ground of the data processing is consisting in: the provisions of GDPR, as well as Law no. 269 of 2003 on the Status of the Romanian Diplomatic and Consular Corps, subsequently amended and fulfilled, Government Decision no. 16 of January 12, 2017 on the organization and functioning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with subsequent amendments and completions.
Publishing personal data on the website with a view to facilitate communication and networking will be performed only on the bases of the data subject's explicit consent.
The rights of data subjects under the provisions of the GDPR are: the right of access, rectification and deletion, withdrawal of consent, restriction of data processing and portability of data, the right to object, and the right to file a complaint to the National Authority for the Supervision of Personal Data Processing.
In order to exercise these rights, the data subject should contact the data protection officer of the MFA at dpo@mae.ro or to address in writing at the MFA Registry Office (31, Aleea Alexandru St., Bucharest).
Server logs - The following data is recorded in the server logs: IP address, the time of the request, destination address, volume of transferred data, notification of the success of the request, browser and operating system as well as the website from which the request was initiated (where the site was accessed through a link). This data is used only to ensure the security of the system. Personal data is neither analyzed nor used to create user profiles. The server login data is kept for 3 months. If we suspect an attack or illegal access to our network infrastructure, and should communicate security data to the specific authorities in order to investigate and resolve the issue, we will only transmit the data used for the administration of the website.
Cookies are small text files stored on the user's computer that allow the site to recognize the user's device in the future when they return to the page. The information contained in the cookies is mainly used to manage web sessions as well as to personalize the web site and make it easier to use. This allows us to optimize the usefulness of our site. Disclosure of personal data to third parties - Data that is recorded when users visit this website will only be disclosed to third parties if required by law or court rulings or if necessary for legal action or criminal prosecution after attacks on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs web infrastructure. Without your explicit consent, the data will not be disclosed to third parties for commercial purposes.
Privacy policy on social networks - It is very important for us the protection of personal data on social networks. The MFA use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr and YouTube. To that end, we want to draw your attention to the fact that these multimedia providers may collect and hold certain data (such as personal data or IP address) for commercial purposes.
Rules and tips for commenting on social media - We highly value your comments on our editorial content on our social media channels. However, we do not accept any comments outside the subject, inappropriate or repetitive observations, promotional, advertising or campaigns of any kind, and comments with the same content made by the same person. On social media, as everywhere else, insulting or defamatory commentaries, slander and denigration are punished. Our ethical standards prohibit verbal mistreatment of people and organizations, vulgar or provocative posts. In the interests of all users, we reserve our right to remove such posts immediately, especially with discriminatory, racist, xenophobic, sexist, misanthropic, anti-constitutional, or violent content. Romanian and English are used for communication on our social media channels.
